The Executive Chairman of Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Hon. Mohammed Jibo, has engaged security agencies in an emergency security meeting over the recurring clashes between youths from Bundot and Bayan Fada communities.
The meeting, which formed part of the council’s efforts to contain the situation, focused on strengthening security operations and preventing further confrontations between the two communities.
Expressing concern over the recurring tension, Jibo called for immediate and coordinated security measures to prevent the situation from escalating into wider violence.
He urged security agencies to intensify surveillance and maintain a stronger presence in the affected communities, particularly in areas identified as potential flashpoints.
The chairman also directed that developments in both Bundot and Bayan Fada be closely monitored to enable security personnel to respond promptly to any emerging threat.
He said the protection of lives and property remained a primary responsibility of the local government, stressing that his administration would not relent in its efforts to restore lasting peace and security across Dass LGA.
Jibo further called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, youth representatives and other stakeholders to address the underlying causes of the conflict and prevent its recurrence.
He appealed to youths and residents of the two communities to remain calm and exercise restraint, warning against provocation, retaliation and other actions capable of worsening the situation.
The chairman assured residents that the local government would continue to work with relevant authorities to maintain law and order and guarantee the safety of communities across the area.
He urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and promptly report suspicious movements or activities that could threaten peace and security.
The meeting underscores the council’s renewed security-focused approach to containing the conflict and preventing further violence in Dass Local Government Area.
