From Nasir Shuaibu, BAUCHI
The Journalists for Public Health and Development Initiative (J4PD) has mourned the death of the Executive Secretary of the Bauchi State Health Contributory Management Agency (BASHCMA), Alhaji Ibrahim Inuwa Duguri, popularly known as Yariman Yankari, and four of his children in a fatal motor accident last Saturday.
The organisation, in a condolence message, described the incident as a devastating loss to the Bauchi State Government, the healthcare sector, the deceased's family and the people of the state.
The four children who died alongside their father were identified as Hajara, Usman, Rukayya and Maryam.
J4PD extended its condolences to the Bauchi State Government, the management and staff of BASHCMA, and the bereaved family, while praying to Almighty Allah to grant the departed eternal rest.
The organisation noted that the death of the BASHCMA chief was particularly painful given his contributions to improving healthcare access and advancing Universal Health Coverage in Bauchi State.
It recalled that its management recently paid an advocacy visit to BASHCMA, during which the late Duguri expressed his willingness to collaborate with the organisation to increase enrolment of eligible residents in the state's health contributory scheme.
According to J4PD, the late executive secretary demonstrated a commitment to partnerships aimed at expanding access to affordable healthcare, particularly for underserved and vulnerable populations.
The organisation said his willingness to work with it underscored the importance of collaboration among government institutions, civil society organisations and the media in promoting public health.
J4PD prayed that Almighty Allah grants the deceased and his four children Aljannatul Firdaus and gives the bereaved family the strength and patience to endure the loss.
It also urged friends, colleagues and associates to take solace in the late Duguri's contributions to public service and healthcare development.
The condolence message was signed by Bashir Hassan Abubakar, Knowledge Management and Communication Advisor, on behalf of the organisation.
