From Nasir Shuaibu, BAUCHI
A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholder in Bauchi State, Hon. Salisu Sabo, popularly known as “Salisiyya Amana,” has called on the state government and relevant authorities to ensure a level playing field for all political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Salisiyya, while speaking on the political situation in the state, warned that political differences should not be allowed to degenerate into violence, urging political actors to embrace tolerance and peaceful competition.
He also appealed to security agencies to remain neutral and professional in handling political activities, saying all parties and their supporters should be allowed to campaign without intimidation or harassment.
According to him, alleged harassment of political opponents would not guarantee electoral victory, stressing that the priority should be the conduct of free, fair and peaceful elections.
“All political parties should be given a level playing field. Harassment of political opponents will not make anyone win an election. What we need is a free, fair and peaceful election,” he said.
He also criticised what he described as the indiscriminate placement of political posters in parts of the state, calling for the regulation of campaign materials in public spaces and private properties in accordance with the law.
Salisiyya urged political parties and their supporters to avoid inflammatory statements and actions capable of creating tension before, during and after the elections.
He expressed confidence that proper planning, adequate security arrangements and reliable voter data would contribute to a peaceful and credible electoral process in Bauchi State in 2027.
