The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the alleged stabbing to death of a 25-year-old man, identified as Moh’d Musa, in the Bayan Bata area of Bauchi metropolis.
The incident occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, following an altercation between the victim and a man identified as Abubakar Abdullahi, also known as “Dan Iya.”
According to preliminary police investigations, the altercation escalated into a physical fight, during which the suspect allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed Musa.
The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he was pronounced dead by the doctor on duty.
Police operatives attached to ‘A’ Division Township responded swiftly to the incident and arrested the suspect. The knife allegedly used in the attack was also recovered and retained as an exhibit.
The victim’s remains have been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigation continues.
The Police Command said the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has directed a thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that justice is served.
The Command also urged residents to shun violence and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
