The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged armed robbery and housebreaking incident in Gadau, Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Salisu Umar, 20, of Gadau, and Sadiq Shehu, 20, of Azare in Katagum Local Government Area, were arrested following an intelligence-led investigation into the attack.
According to the Police Command, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 8 when five armed men allegedly stormed the residence of a 28-year-old resident of Gadau Town.
The assailants, reportedly armed with cutlasses and other dangerous weapons, allegedly forced their way into the house, threatened the victim and his wife, tied them up and carted away valuables estimated at about ₦4 million.
Items reportedly stolen include a Jincheng motorcycle, five Android mobile phones, 10 wrappers, three wristwatches, one cap and ₦1 million in cash.
Police said the robbery was reported to the Gadau Divisional Headquarters on July 3, prompting detectives to visit the scene and launch an intensive investigation.
The operation led to the arrest of the two suspects, who were subjected to preliminary investigation.
During an identification parade, the victim's wife allegedly identified Sadiq Shehu as one of the men who entered her room and forced her to open the main gate to allow other members of the gang into the premises.
The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
He assured residents that efforts were ongoing to track down the remaining suspects still at large and bring them to justice.
The police commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support the fight against crime across the state.
