Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old suspect in possession of a stolen bull valued at ₦800,000 and handed him over to the Jigawa State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
The arrest followed a request for assistance from the Kafin Hausa Divisional Police Headquarters in Jigawa State after the reported theft of the animal.
According to the Bauchi State Police Command, the suspect, identified as Shu'aibu Musa of Dumadumin Kyaure Village in Kafin Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, allegedly stole the bull in the early hours of July 4 after unlawfully entering the complainant's residence.
Police said the theft was reported to the Kafin Hausa Division, which alerted the Gadau Divisional Police Headquarters in Bauchi after intelligence suggested that the suspect had fled towards Bauchi State.
Acting on the information, detectives attached to the Gadau Division launched a coordinated operation, mounted surveillance and intercepted the suspect, leading to his arrest and the recovery of the stolen bull.
The Police Command said the suspect allegedly confessed to the offence during interrogation.
Following the arrest, both the suspect and the recovered bull were handed over to the Kafin Hausa Divisional Police Headquarters in Jigawa State for the continuation of investigation and possible prosecution.
Commending the officers for their prompt response and professionalism, the Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, described the successful operation as another example of effective inter-state security collaboration.
He reaffirmed the Command's commitment to working closely with neighbouring police commands and other security agencies to ensure that criminals have no safe haven within and around Bauchi State.
