The Bauchi State Accountability Mechanism for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (BASAM), an advocacy-based Civil Society Organisation (CSO), has reiterated its commitment to driving evidence-based advocacy for improved healthcare outcomes across the state.
This renewed commitment was collectively adopted by BASAM members during a strategic meeting held at the organisation's office in Bauchi.
A key outcome of the meeting was the development of a short-term work plan designed to guide immediate activities. The plan aims to restructure and revitalize the organization's various subcommittees for optimal performance.
In his welcoming remarks, the Co-chair of BASAM, Abu John Yusuf, thanked members and the management team for their resolve to reposition BASAM to its rightful place among State-Led Accountability Mechanisms (SLAMs) in Nigeria.
Yusuf also emphasized the need to review BASAM’s Resource Mobilization Framework and boost the organisation's public visibility, particularly by leveraging its social media platforms.
The resulting work plan places a heavy emphasis on upcoming advocacy visits to key Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), as well as other non-state actors across Bauchi State.
Our Correspondent reports that, BASAM is a prominent evidence-based advocacy CSO with a diverse membership drawn from government MDAs, civil society, and the media.
