Nigerian Army Armour School to Conduct Firepower Demonstration

The Nigerian Army Armour School, Obienu Barracks, Bauchi, is set to conduct a Fire Power Demonstration Exercise along the Bauchi-Jos Road on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026.

The Army has advised members of the public, particularly farmers and cattle rearers around Zaranda Hill and Geji Village, to stay away from the designated exercise area throughout the period.

The exercise, scheduled to commence from six o’clock in the morning and end at six o’clock in the evening, will involve the movement of troops and military equipment, as well as the firing of live ammunition and projectiles.

In a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Major Adekunle A. Adeyemi, the Nigerian Army said the exercise is part of its Fire Power Demonstration activities.

The Army urged residents along the Bauchi-Jos Road and surrounding areas not to panic on sighting large movements of troops or hearing gunshots and explosions during the exercise.

Farmers and cattle rearers in particular have been advised to keep away from the Field Training Exercise Area around Zaranda Hill and Geji Village, as the live ammunition and projectiles being used are capable of causing serious injury or death.

The Army assured members of the public that adequate measures have been put in place to safeguard lives and property throughout the exercise.

The Commandant, Nigerian Army Armour School, Major General Sunday Makolo, appealed for the cooperation of residents and urged the public to adhere strictly to the safety directives.
