From Nasir Shuaibu, BAUCHI
A coalition of concerned people of Bauchi State has announced plans to mobilise about 10,000 volunteers to support the governorship aspiration of Senator Halliru Dauda Jika ahead of the 2027 election.
The coalition, which made the disclosure at a press conference in Bauchi on Friday, said it was working to mobilise men, women and youths across the state ahead of the commencement of Jika’s campaign activities.
The group, represented by Hon. Ahmed Yero, said the senator had been consulting with traditional and political stakeholders, elders, women and youths as part of preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
According to the coalition, Jika is expected to formally flag off his campaign activities in the coming weeks.
It urged residents of Bauchi State, particularly youths, to participate actively in the electoral process and volunteer at different levels of the campaign.
The coalition also appealed to the media to provide adequate coverage of the electoral process and amplify issues being presented by candidates to the electorate.
It urged voters to reject vote buying and exercise their franchise based on their preferred candidates rather than material inducements.
The group said Jika, if elected governor, had pledged to focus on security, education, healthcare, business development and the welfare of residents, including women, widows, youths and persons with special needs.
The coalition also called on eligible voters to participate in the 2027 electoral process in accordance with electoral laws and guidelines.
