Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU), Gadau, has donated office furniture to the newly established Divisional Police Headquarters in Gadau as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with security agencies and promote a safer environment for the university community.
The donated items include an executive office table and chair, two semi-executive office table and chair sets, and six visitors' chairs.
Presenting the items on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Aminu Umar Kura, said the gesture formed part of the University's corporate social responsibility and its commitment to supporting institutions that contribute to the security and development of the community.
He described the police as strategic partners in maintaining peace and order, noting that the cordial relationship between the University and security agencies has remained vital to ensuring a conducive atmosphere for teaching, learning and research.
Professor Kura said the donation was intended to further strengthen the existing partnership between the University and the Nigeria Police Force, particularly in safeguarding lives and property within and around the institution.
He appealed to the Police to sustain efforts at protecting students, especially those residing off-campus, and to intensify surveillance against criminal elements operating around the University environment.
Responding, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Gadau Divisional Police Headquarters, SP Bala Babayo, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and the management of Sa'adu Zungur University for the donation.
He described the gesture as timely, saying the furniture would improve the working environment at the newly established division and enhance effective service delivery.
The DPO assured the University community of the Police's continued commitment to protecting lives and property, particularly students living in Gadau and surrounding communities.
He also pledged to sustain the cordial relationship between the Police and the University, assuring that the Command would continue to provide the necessary security support to ensure a peaceful environment for academic activities.
The University's delegation to the presentation was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Aminu Umar Kura, and included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), the Registrar, the Acting Bursar, the University Librarian and the Director of Works.
