According to the police, the victim was initially admitted to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Misau, before being referred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he died on Sunday while receiving treatment.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, expressed concern over the allegations and directed an immediate and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The police commissioner said the Command remained committed to professionalism, respect for human rights and adherence to due process in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.

He assured that anyone found culpable at the end of the investigation would face appropriate disciplinary and legal action in accordance with the law.

The Command also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and prayed for the repose of his soul.
