ATBUTH Launches Mobile App to Expand Digital Healthcare Services

By Muhammad Auwal

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, has launched a mobile application aimed at improving access to healthcare services and enhancing patient experience through digital technology.

The application, known as the DHS Mobile App, was unveiled to the hospital's amenity and retainership partners as part of the hospital's ongoing digital transformation programme.

The app enables patients to book appointments, make payments electronically, receive prescription and medication reminders, and communicate directly with hospital support personnel, eliminating the need for physical queues at registration and payment points.

Speaking at the unveiling, the Chief Medical Director of ATBUTH, Professor Yusuf Bara Jibrin, described the application as a major milestone in the hospital's efforts to build a modern, patient-centred healthcare system driven by innovation and technology.

He said the hospital remained committed to introducing digital solutions that improve operational efficiency, simplify access to healthcare services and ensure that patients receive timely and quality medical care.

Professor Jibrin urged amenity and retainership partners, as well as other users of the hospital's services, to embrace the platform, expressing confidence that it would further improve service delivery and enhance patients' overall experience.

He noted that the mobile application complements the recently introduced DHS SmartQueue System, a digital platform designed to streamline patient flow, reduce congestion in clinics and minimise waiting time.

According to him, the two initiatives reflect the hospital's determination to leverage technology in delivering efficient, accessible and patient-friendly healthcare services.

The unveiling attracted representatives of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Bastin HMO, Prepaid HMO, Independent System Operators (ISO), the Nigerian Shippers' Council, as well as members of the public and staff of the hospital.

The hospital management reaffirmed its commitment to deploying innovative technologies that improve healthcare delivery and strengthen patient satisfaction.
