The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, has congratulated Comrade Isah Garba Gadau on his election as the new Chairman of the NUJ Bauchi State Council.
Gadau emerged alongside members of the new State Working Committee (SWC) at the council’s election held on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
In a congratulatory message signed by the Secretary of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Samuel Luka, the Chapel described the successful conduct of the election and the emergence of the new leadership as an important milestone in the affairs of the union in Bauchi State.
The Chapel expressed confidence that the new administration would build on the achievements of previous leaderships and take steps towards strengthening the union and advancing the interests of journalists across the state.
It commended the outgoing State Working Committee, led by Comrade Umar Sa’idu, for its service to the union and for providing the leadership and institutional framework that facilitated the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election.
The Chapel particularly appreciated the outgoing administration for ensuring an atmosphere conducive to the exercise of members’ democratic rights throughout the electoral process.
It urged the new State Working Committee to make journalists’ welfare, professionalism, press freedom, ethical journalism, unity and the protection of members’ interests key priorities of its administration.
The Chapel also called on the new leadership to strengthen collaboration among NUJ chapels, promote constructive engagement with relevant stakeholders and foster an inclusive administration that would give due attention to the concerns and aspirations of members.
While wishing the new chairman and his team a successful tenure, the Correspondents’ Chapel prayed for wisdom, courage, fairness and foresight for the new leadership in steering the affairs of the union.
It further assured the new administration of its commitment to constructive partnership and collaboration towards advancing the collective interests of journalists and strengthening the journalism profession in Bauchi State.
The Chapel also wished members of the outgoing State Working Committee well in their future endeavours.
